Tex-Mex Pita Recipe
2 lb - beef, ground
1 pkg - taco seasoning
1/3 c - water
1 (16 oz.) can - refried beans
7 (6") - pita breads, halved
3 c - (12 oz.) - cheddar cheese, shredded
In a skillet, brown beef over med. heat until no longer pink; drain. Stir in taco seasoning, water, beans, and salsa. Simmer 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Spoon approx. 1/3 c. into each pita half, top with approx. 2T. cheddar cheese. Place in a 13 x 9 x2" baking pan. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes, until cheese is melted. Serves: 7-10.
