The Charm Countryview Inn, a bed and breakfast Inn, is located 2 1/2 miles southeast of a quiet hillside overlooking peaceful country meadows and farms in Ohio's scenic Holmes County, home of the world's largest Amish Community. The Inn is owned and operated by us, the Abe Mast Family.

A Bed and Breakfast operation had been a dream of our family for several years. It seemed whenever we'd get together, the conversation would eventually come back to this idea of a B&B! The men especially often talked about this. In 1988 Leon and Marvin attended a B&B seminar and after that our family spent many evenings giving the idea careful thought.

There was never really a question about where the Inn would be built. Dad had bought a 70-acre farm in 1981 between Charm and Farmerstown and it had a perfect spot on a hill at the edge of the woods. So Leon began drawing up plans with much counsel from the rest of us. Our plans were then given to an architect who completed them and got the star approval required.

In the meantime we had to come up with a name for this new establishment. That turned out to be quite a challenge! Each of us came up with some names and when we put them all together we had around 50 different ones. Somehow we narrowed it down to one, The Charm Countryview Inn. We can't imagine it being anything different now.

The foundation for the Inn began in August of 1989, and the framework construction was completed in December. Our local carpenter crew worked all winter and spring until we opened the doors to our first guests on June 1, 1990.

Each of our 15 guest rooms, all with private baths, are individually decorated and have been named after members of our family. Our comfortably furnished rooms feature handmade quilts on queen size beds and solid oak furniture selected by Leon and Sara Ann from their furniture store.

We want our Inn to be a "destination." A place where people can come to unwind and relax , away from the hustle and bustle of life, and where you feel refreshed when you leave.

Reflecting back over the first few years of The Charm Countryview Inn, it really has been an exciting experience, made possible in part by the many feature articles in our local newspapers and also many prominent National Publications.
