Recipe - Chocolate Caramel Bars
1 - cake mix, vanilla or chocolate
1 cup - evaporated milk
1/4 cup - butter or margarine, melted
1 cup - chopped walnuts, reserve 1/2 cup
3/4 cup - semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup - caramel ice cream topping
Grease 9" x 13" cake pan. In large mixing bowl combine cake mix, evaporated milk and melted butter. Beat until smooth (batter will be thick). Stir in 1/2 cup walnuts. Spread 2/3 of mixture in prepared pan. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate pieces over top. Drizzle caramel topping over chocolate pieces. Drop remaining batter by small spoonfuls over caramel. Sprinkle with remaining walnuts. Bake 25-30 minutes more, until top is golden and mixture set. Makes 36 bars.
