Brown Butter Peach & Sage Chicken Stuffing Bake

A cozy sweet-and-savory casserole featuring tender chicken, fresh peaches, herb-seasoned stuffing, brown butter sage, and smoky Gouda 🍑 A comforting dinner that brings together the flavors of late summer and early fall.

Ingredients

  • 4 T Butter

  • 1 T Fresh Sage, finely chopped

  • 3 large Peaches, ripe but firm - diced into ½” pieces

  • 2 lbs Cooked Chicken, diced or shredded

  • 1 - 12oz bag Herb seasoned stuffing mix

  • 2 c Chicken Broth

  • 1 c Sour Cream

  • 4 oz Cream Cheese., softened

  • 1 ½ c Smoked Gouda, shredded & divided

  • ½ c Parmesan Cheese, shredded

  • ½ tsp Garlic Powder

  • ½ tsp Black Pepper

  • ¼ tsp Salt, or to taste

  • ¼ c Green Onions, sliced

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 9 x 13” baking dish

  2. Melt butter in a skillet over medium heat. Continue cooking for 3-4 minutes, until the butter turns golden brown and smells nutty

  3. Add the chopped sage during the last 30 seconds. Remove from heat.

  4. In a large bowl, whisk together chicken broth, sour cream, softened cream cheese, garlic powder, black pepper, and salt

  5. Whisk until mostly smooth

  6. Add the stuffing mix, chicken, peaches, green onions and 1 cup of the shredded Gouda to the bowl

  7. Pour the browned butter and sage over the mixture. Stir gently until the stuffing is moistened

  8. Do not overmix - the peach pieces should remain intact

  9. Spread the mixture evenly into the dish. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup smoked Gouda and the Parmesan over the top

  10. Cover loosely with foil. Bake at 350 degrees for 30 minutes

  11. Remove the foil and continue baking for 10-15 minutes until hot and lightly golden on top

  12. Remove from the oven and let stand for approximately 10 minutes before serving.
